Hon Chairman, Distinguished Colleagues , ladies and gentlemen.
Today’s event does not call for Long speech. It is demonstration of our resolve as ex and current professional footballers under the auspices of the players union to now begin to take responsibility on all issues that has do with our career and life

Only last two weeks before I travelled to Egypt we had meeting in abuja to discuss and strategize on the best approach in launching the Nigeria Footballers Welfare Trust Fund.

The committee that is being inaugurated today could not have come at better time than now, considering the current challenge being faced by one of us, former Rivers Angeles FC and Falconets goal keeper Bidemi Aluko. When I received the information about her ailment, I immediately requested the General Secretary to assess the situation, which led him going to Bidemi’s house in Ibadan.

They say, necessity is the mother of invention. While it was part of our plans , to immediately set up standing committees that will assist the NAC pursue the set goals of the union after my election in December 2018, it was difficult to kick start, due to challenge of funds, and the only alternative to resolve this for now is to look for ways of sourcing for funds and also getting people who are passionate and willing to make sacrifice and take responsibility

The idea of today’s inauguration of the NANPF Women Affairs Committee is predicated on the Passion and commitment of the Chairman or person of the NANPF Women Affairs Committee, Ann Chejeine, former Super Falcons goalkeeper, following the manner and the way she had come out to provide leadership in driving the fund raising campaign for Bidemi’s treatment.

It is against this background that i consider expedient to inaugurate. the NANPF Women Affairs Committee to amongst others, address the following, issues

1 Drive the ongoing fund raising campaign to pay for the treatment of Bidemi Aluko, former Rivers Angeles and Falconets goalkeeper, diagnosed with cancer of the breast

2 Get expert opinion, and advice and make recommendation based on the alternative treatment options between University Teaching Hospital Ibadan, The Health and Care Global Enterprise Ltd Bangalore in Indian, ( see reports attached, while we await the response from Isreal

3 Put in place strategic plans tailored towards the promotion of the general welfare of all Nigerian women footballers from the grassroot to professional football

4 Identity critical areas of challenges and threats faced by women footballers in Nigeria in the
Practice of their profession, in areas such as their career, development, health, finance etc, and provide possible solutions to address. them

5 Develop strategic plans for the mobilisation and registration of all eligible Women Footballers in Nigeria as members of the NANPF for their development and protection etc

Permit me at this junction, for the purpose of focus to reiterate once again, that the committee should concentrate on the SAVE A SOUL FUND FOR BIDEMI ALUKO. The success of this, will no doubt impact positively on your other assignments

I have no doubt in my mind that your committee will deliver maximally, and I can assure you of the maximum support of the National Administrative Council (NAC) of the Union in ensuring you deliver

Finally I want to thank all the members of the committee for accepting to serve
